We Dropped an iPhone Protected by AirX From the Stratosphere!
2026/08/31
RHINOSHIELD set a official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Highest Drop of a Mobile Phone in a Phone Case (Natural Landforms) after dropping an off-the-shelf AirX Ultra-Cushioned Case protecting an iPhone 17 Pro from 30,607 meters (100,416 feet) in Kiruna, Sweden. The Record Drop: Pushed by CEO Eric Wang to test the limits of durability, RHINOSHIELD partnered with Sent Into Space to send three payloads into the stratosphere via high-altitude balloon. Released at -76°F with no parachutes, the devices survived a free-fall landing in the Arctic boreal forest with fully functional touchscreens, cameras, and calling capabilities. Zero Modifications: The unit used in the drop was the exact, commercially available AirX case—featuring proprietary ShockSpread™ mono-material technology and a Double-Layered Defense system—with no custom reinforcements or prototypes. Sustainable Protection: Despite surviving extreme space-grade impacts, the AirX case remains 100% recyclable through RHINOSHIELD's circular RHINOLOOP® program due to its single-material construction.
